EBC RP-1 high-performance brake pads, designed for sporty, track-intensive vehicles. The RP-1 has a moderate friction level of 0.45 which translates into more progressive brake performance characteristics. On high-performance sports vehicles, the RP-1’s moderate friction level goes some way to negating the impact of an over-assisted braking setup, resulting in a progressive/smooth response that provides an exceptional ‘feel’ during any braking on the track and increases braking precision. In modern vehicles, it can feel as though all braking occurs when the first centimetre of the pedal is pressed. For the average driver this gives the sensation of hard braking, experienced track/racing drivers know that the brake response to touch is undesirable, completely unacceptable for smooth driving at top speeds. The use of RP-1™ pads is beneficial for high-performance driving by encouraging the driver to find the limit when braking, where a smooth response is necessary to avoid wheel locking under braking.
